Can Whey Protein Help Me Lose Fat?

I train 4 days a week with weights and have been taking Whey Protein before and after I train to repair my muscles and fuel growth. I read in a magazine that Whey can actually aid in fat loss.

I was under the impression Whey had no thermogenic effects, how can this be so?
