Hi ,

Sometimes I get asked if I am involved in the day to day management of my company, Labrada Nutrition. Many are surprised to find out that for the last 24 years, I have been coming into the office every day; I love what I do, which is helping people get into shape.

I put in a full work schedule, just like you do. And by the end of some work days, I am tired. Yesterday was one of those days. After a full day of meetings with product development, marketing, and operations, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym and work out.

So, I did what I always do when I don’t feel like going to the gym: I got into my gym clothes, went into the gym and I started warming up.

"So you have superhuman discipline, right Lee?"

I am just as tempted to take the easy way out as the next guy. But long ago, I made a deal with myself that whenever I didn’t feel like going to the gym, I would go anyway and start warming up. The deal was that after five minutes, if I still didn’t feel like working out, then I would give myself permission to go home.

More often than not however, I, find that once I go to the gym and start warming up, my mood and energy levels change drastically. I’ve actually ended up getting some of my best workouts on those days when I initially thought that I didn’t want to work out.

I think that this approach is a result of something my Dad taught me many years ago. He said "son, when you don’t feel like doing something, and you know you should, just start by putting one foot in front of the other, and don’t stop."

Next time you’re thinking about skipping that workout, try this approach and see how you feel. Sometimes all it takes is stepping into the gym.

Make it a great week.

Alexsis Starr lost 22.8 lbs & 4.3% Body Fat

"This whole challenge has taught me both physically and emotionally to open up more and lean on God. Without his strength and guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to complete this (I’ve tried challenges before and always fallen short or just not finished). My physical success was that I surpassed the goal weight that I had set for myself. I set my goal to lose about 15lbs. I honestly never would have thought that I would have been able to make that or surpass it, but I did and I made it to 112! Seeing the weight fall off over this time span was crazy to me. This was just an outward success though. Emotionally, I’ve never seen myself as beautiful or having an attractive body. But now I look at myself and I am PROUD and I love the tiger stripes I have from my girls and the imperfections that I see. Obviously, I know it can be a mind game every day and a work in progress, but I feel accomplished and like this is mentally where I have always wanted to be with my body."
