Why High Intensity Interval Training Really Works

A few months ago I changed my fitness routine fairly aggressively to slim down my legs and lower body. I had been doing a rigorous Body Pump class for several weeks, and the heavy lunges and squats had developed more mass than I like having. (At 5-foot-1-inches, I sometimes build mass fairly quickly, especially on my legs, and in this case I wanted to lean it out.) So, I dropped the Body Pump and started adding in High-Intensity Interval Training, also known as H.I.I.T., and achieved the results I was looking for in just a few short weeks.

Lean Body For Her Transformation Of The Week

Brooke Lost 16lbs & Dropped 5% Body Fat

Physically, it was so hard to get to the gym with being a new mom (who breastfeeds) and also working full time. Leaving my baby to go to the gym was also mind game. I had to remind myself that I deserve this time to myself and the baby is probably sleeping anyways.

One of my biggest successes is filling out these essay questions and actually submitting my progress photos. In the past, I have entered the challenge but failed to submit the finisher packet because I felt my results weren't good enough.

I thought I needed a better transformation. Even though I feel like I've looked better in the past, I feel even better now. I have had to overcome body dysmorphia and eating disorders over the past few years.

Participating in the lean body challenge this year has taught me to love myself at all stages of life. Body dysmorphia is a real thing and so many of us suffer from it. This year, I'm finishing the challenge with some cellulite, stretch marks, and curves, but I'm finishing proud! I am a real person, with a real transformation. I am glad that I see the hard work that I have put in to living a healthy life and feeling good about myself.
