10 Ways to Feel Fabulous Today
FAB-U-LOUS (adjective): exceptionally good or unusual; marvelous; superb.
I don’t know about you, ladies, but I love to be able to use this word as often as possible, especially when it comes to describing the way that I FEEL! I mean, isn’t that the goal of life? To do things that bring you joy and make you happy, while avoiding the things that don’t? I know, it may seem to sound like “pie in the sky” and an unrealistic thought to certain people, but if you really think about it, it’s not that difficult to do! Often, it doesn’t take significant events to make you feel good, but rather it is the simple things of life that carry the largest amounts of joy. The key is to actually take the time and put in the effort to allow yourself to enjoy these little things.
Lean Bodies, the point is that while “life-changing”, “earth-shattering” events certainly are, well, FABULOUS, they are not necessary in order to have you feeling great! There is a common saying, “It’s the little things”, and it holds so much truth. It really is the “little” things that have the power to make such a “big” impact! This is also the very reason why that you do not need a lot of money in order to be happy! So, let’s talk about the things you can do that don’t require you having to use a lot of “PLASTIC” in order to get yourself feeling FANTASTIC!
Oh c’mon, you can’t be surprised that this is at the top of the list! Ladies, besides the fact that working out will get you to look better, there is scientific evidence that exercise actually makes you FEEL better! Exercise releases endorphins, which are chemicals that trigger a positive feeling in the body. I’m sure that you can attest to this because a good workout is typically always accompanied by a boost in your self-esteem and a more positive outlook! So, add to your day a lot more moving and TRAINING in order to have fewer reasons for depressive thoughts and COMPLAINING!
I can’t speak for you, but this is one of my absolute FAVORITE ways to feel wonderful! No, I’m not talking about deep tissue massages, which can be painful, albeit extremely helpful, but a relaxing, hot stone massage, for example. Or, my go-to massage of choice – a foot massage! There is just something so calming about a massage that really helps to unwind your body and your mind. Want another scientific fact? Okay! Well, massages also contribute to the release of endorphins (those “feel-good” chemicals) in your body. Ladies, as if you needed another reason to get a good massage, you just got one.
You use your hands and feet for pretty much everything, so, make them look great! Personally, having nicely manicured hands and feet make me feel confident and feminine, and I am sure that many of you beauties can relate. I love to experiment with fun colors and with all of the cool, crazy designs that they have recently come up with, especially in these summer months (I can only imagine what they will come up with next!) Even if you are the opposite of me, and just like nude/bare nails, you can still get a mani/pedi, but just use a clear/pale pink coat! Oh, and the added bonus of treating yourself to having them done for you…back to that amazing massage that we just talked about! WOOHOOO!
4.) TAKE A WALK
Sounds simple, right? Because it is! The amazing thing about getting outside for a walk is that it allows you to notice SO much more than you do when you drive. Consciously make the effort to notice and appreciate all of the amazing BEAUTY that surrounds you, while at the same time leaving your cares and concerns at your doorstep. Trust me, while they will be there when you get back, your mind will be more able to handle them efficiently! Nature truly is a masterpiece that we often take for granted, so get out and ENJOY it. You will feel incredible and the only requirements are you and a good pair of sneakers.
5.) READ A GOOD BOOK
No, I’m not saying to sit down and study, unless of course, that makes you feel fabulous! But to “get lost” in a great book is the goal. Allow yourself to be carried away to a magical place of fiction; let your heart race as you turn page after page of a romance novel; or, for you “problem-solvers”, get that magnifying glass out and get to solving the latest mystery release. Whatever you choose or whatever the time of day that you are able to fit it in, embrace this quiet pleasure and enjoy the “YOU” moment. Well, what are you waiting for? Your book, snuggly blanket, couch, and hot cup of tea are all waiting for you! In this case, let your fingers “do the walking” for you! Sounds fabulous, right? It is…
6.) GO SHOPPING AND PICK OUT YOUR FAVORITE FIND!
Ladies, you do not have to go on a shopping “spree” in order to get that “new outfit” glee! Personally, I absolutely love to shop, but I can’t do it for long. But, even if I find just one thing that I just have to have, I get so excited about it! There is something about a “great find” (especially one that is on sale) that just makes you feel super. So, give it a try! (I know, as if this is a novel idea for many of you…Ha!) But, hey, if you’re looking for permission without the guilt, you just got it! Hit those racks, girls!
7.) TAKE A BATH
I have to admit that I have never been a big fan of taking baths, but I know that I am in the minority here! Many find baths to be one of the most relaxing ways to decompress after a long day. Yes, even you moms with kids. Make it a point to take 10-15 minutes to soak away your stresses. You earned it… Grab a nice glass of wine…and go unwind…
8.) GO ON A ROAD TRIP
Time for another personal “confession”…I am not a big traveler, but I certainly know that there are many who just absolutely love it! Now, you don’t have to go to the tropics or Mexico to light up your face with a smile and “glow”! Find out some cool attractions in your town or in local cities and go check them out! Not only will you discover new and exciting places in your area, but you will feel FABULOUS as you do! So, if you want to a thrill to be the next thing you feel, go and get behind the WHEEL!
9.) PUT ON YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC… & DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING!
I’m serious! There is something so invigorating about letting loose and swinging that hair like you just don’t care! Get out of your comfort zone and rock out…all alone! Laugh at yourself, belt out every word (yes, even if you feel absurd)…and just HAVE FUN! If you’ve never done this before, even better! It may be your first time, but I promise you, it will be far from your last! Now, go get your “dancing shoes” on and put those tunes on blast!
10.) DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE
There is something to be said about the joy that comes from giving to – and doing good for – OTHER people. No, it is not you that is receiving the gift or deed, but what you will receive is far better and that is a feeling that can only be described as “fabulous”. Whether it be a family member, a friend, or a complete stranger, go and do something that brings this person happiness and then just try to prevent your heart from smiling. I know, you can’t …how FABULOUS…
