It Is a Brand New Year – Make This Your Best Year Ever!
By Roger “ROCK” Lockridge
It is a brand new year – 2013, and that means you have nothing but opportunity and imagination standing in between you and your goals. As we push forward with our New Year Decisions (I don’t do Resolutions as some of you who have read my articles know) use these tips and tricks to help you increase the chances of success this new year.
“The 21 Rule” – One way to create new habits in the business world is to try to do something for 21 straight days. Studies have shown that you are much more likely to maintain a good habit or stop a bad one if you can be consistent for 21 days. Three weeks isn’t a long time so this can be done as long as you decide that it is possible for you and you commit to making it happen.
Reward Yourself – It can be a vacation, new wardrobe, iPad, or anything that you have wanted but have been reluctant to buy applies here. Investing into it by committing to achieving goals for it will definitely increase both your motivation and your likelihood of success. I would suggest not rewarding yourself with something unhealthy like cheat foods because you want to reinforce your new healthy lifestyle.
Write Out A Contract – Nothing that you need notarized or anything but something formal telling yourself that you will do whatever it is you intend to do. Seeing something that appears official and in black and white also will motivate you more to get it done. It can say that you are going to reach various goals by a certain deadline and if it happens it will lead to a reward. Don’t write out anything that would or wouldn’t happen if you don’t reach your goals because that isn’t even an option.
Keep Positive Company – Negative people only try to bring others down with them, thus the expression “misery loves company”. Social networks, message boards, or groups that are positive minded like you are will keep you inspired and in the right mindset. Labrada’s message board and Facebook pages are great examples of this. Join Labrada’s message board for free and start interacting with other like-minded people now.
Good luck as you work to make this year the year you finally make it happen for yourself and congrats in advance for sticking to it and making 2013 your best year ever!
