Getting Back on Track With Your Fitness Program
by Kelsey Byers
Christmas is over and I know I am happy to get back to my “normal” routine. It is easy to get distracted from your workouts and eating schedule with all of the shopping, parties and events. My husband and I finished Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving, but we still did not hit the gym as much as normal due to a slightly busier schedule.
As we head into 2013, I encourage you to sit down and write your goals on paper. Not only that, put those goals in a place where you will see them everyday. Whether it be your smartphone, computer, bulletin board, fridge- just keep them out in the open to hold yourself accountable. You can give yourself monthly goals- even quarterly goals! The year will fly by, so let’s make it productive! It is super easy to spend at least two hours a night on social networks or watching TV. I encourage you to set a few hours a week aside to be ACTIVE.
When you MAKE time, your body can become a priority! If you feel a little guilty from taking time away from your family, maybe you should find an activity that you can all do together. Or, take your family to the gym with you. Many gyms offer child care, but some gyms allow you 24 hour access, which makes little time for excuses. Remember, if you aren’t your BEST, your family isn’t getting the BEST of you.
If your health has not been a priority, I would suggest making it one now- before it forces you to in the future! For nutrition, try to stay away from processed foods- like fast food and TV dinners. In the beginning of my weight loss journey, I went from a size 14 to an 8, simply by limiting alcoholic beverages and cooking my meals at home. It’s tough to really know how your food is being cooked at a restaurant. If you do go out to eat, a good ordering tip is to tell your waiter “No Butter, No Oil” and order your food grilled or steamed.
I am excited to see what 2013 brings! I hope you are too! This is THE time to create a BETTER YOU!
Eat clean & follow your dreams!
