From Skinny Boy to Superman – Part  4 – Motivation

So you now have everything. The training plan, the nutrition plan, and supplementation plan. So you are ready to get jacked and strong, right?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA!

Where are you going? This isn’t over yet. There is one more base that we need to cover. It isn’t talked about much except for some cool images on Facebook but it is crucial to guarantee success with this program…you gotta get your head right.

Motivation is going to be something you have to have in spades to do this because this ain’t easy. Matter of fact this may be one of the greatest physical challenges of your life. You are literally trying to create something on your body that isn’t there. I need to shoot straight with you about this. It is going to be tough, you are going to be sore, and there will be times when you think that you just may not be meant to be big.

This is why I talk about motivation so much. When these times come (and they will) you need to remember why you started this, the progress you are making, and where you plan on going. So let’s cover these quick and then you can go get big.

Write it Down

Take a few minutes and think about five reasons why you want to get big. Do you want to look good? Is there health issues you want to conquer? Perhaps you will be better at your job. Whatever they may be, take a little time and think of these reasons then write them down on a blog or on a notepad under the title “Why I Want This”.

Keep that paper out because you have more writing to do. Now think of five goals that you want to achieve with this program. Strength goals, weight goal, event you want to compete in, whatever it is would be important or you wouldn’t have thought of it. Write those down next. Then title that list “What I Will Do”.

Now think of five things you can do this minute to help you reach those goals. Do you smoke? You should quit. Do you party? Take a few months away from the bars. Drink soda? Resolve to stop that too. After you make this list, title it “What I Won’t Do”. Just like that you are closer to reaching those goals.

Now keep this paper with you at all times. Keep it in your gym bag, wallet, wherever you want. This is important because when you get down, you will look at this and say “I can’t quit. I won’t quit. I will succeed and I will win.”


You have to see it to do it. You have to know where you are going if you want to get there. I am going to share two ways that helped me stay motivated and I think will help you.

One is before training. One hour before hitting the gym sit and close your eyes. Don’t fall asleep. Just take a little bit of time and see yourself in the gym, feel the weight in your hands, watch it move, feel the contractions, and hear the music you plan to listen to. Being this detailed about your thoughts will make it a formality that you will wreak havoc in the gym. Each workout will be better than the last when you do this.

Now that is short term visualization. Here is one for long term planning. You have someone that inspires you, right? For me it was 1999 and my favorite wrestler was Stone Cold Steve Austin. He was in great shape and had a rough road to the top so he inspired me. I found a great photo of him and pasted a picture of my head on his body. This cut and paste version of my future self inspired me to try and make that a reality each day.

Now Make It Happen

So now the puzzle is finally complete. You have the workouts, diet, the Labrada products to back it up, and now you know what to do when you get down or need a mental boost. Now there is only one question left to ask…are you ready?

Are you ready to do this? Are you ready to create the body you have dreamed of for so long? Are you ready to do something that many feel you can’t do, that many feel is impossible, and that you yourself felt couldn’t happen before reading this? Are you ready to change every aspect of your life as you know it right now?

This is that important. You start this and there is no going back. You will see changes that you never thought you would. You will inspire people close to you. Heck you will inspire people you never met. You will get bigger, you will be stronger, and the excitement that you are feeling will only grow as each day passes, as each pound of muscle is created, as each rep is completed, and as you achieve goal after goal after goal. Congrats in advance because I know you can do it.

Now go prove me right!
