Introducing Roger “Rock” Lockridge

Introducing Roger “Rock” Lockridge
by Roger “ROCK” Lockridge

Hello Everyone,

It is my pleasure and privilege to be a part of the Labrada community. My hope is that along with everyone else that makes this community such a force in the fitness industry that I can contribute to help you and many people like you reach all of your fitness goals and discover that when you focus on your levels of health and fitness that it becomes the first step in you reaching a new level of quality of life overall.

For those of you that don’t know me please allow me a few minutes to tell you about myself. I began training in 1999 as the prototypical “Charles Atlas” story. I was 17 years old, a senior in high school, and weighed all of 125 pounds (that isn’t an exaggeration but the real number). When I started training, I was told by many people from my doctor to my gym teacher to even members of my own family that I was crazy and couldn’t do what I hoped to do. Through a lot of trial and error, reading a lot of information, and then figuring out what actually worked, I reached 200 lbs. within 5 years.

Unfortunately a few years later I fell into a depression when I injured my shoulder and lost my job in the same week. Because of that, I lost all interest in fitness and ballooned up to over 260 pounds. Although I still lifted, I didn’t care what I ate and got lazy in all other aspects of my life.

2009 was the year my life changed forever. After making the New Year’s Decision (not resolution) to get back into shape, I also started writing a blog on BodySpace. This led me to getting signed as a contributing writer to Bodybuilding.com. Many people hope to get featured on Bodybuilding.com once. I was hoping to be named Transformation of the Week someday. Now I am going to be sharing my passion and knowledge on the biggest bodybuilding site on the planet. Not many people get to start at the top so this gave me all the motivation I needed to get back in shape. I ended up losing over 50 pounds by the end of the year so I now had not one, but two transformations and the knowledge to help both the thin man and those that want to lose weight. Besides the transformation, I have been extremely blessed to have made a mark on the bodybuilding and fitness world in my own right including…

2009 Bodybuilding.com Male Writer of the Year (Highest Award for Writers in Fitness World)

Having been featured myself in the popular “Hardgainer Series”.

150 Articles on Bodybuilding.com

Began writing for Iron Man Magazine in 2011.

Co-Host of “No Holds Barred Radio” on the Bodybuilding Lounge from 2010-2011.

My story and/or my writing has been featured on over 200 websites and publications around the world (This is why I call myself a “Worldwide Fitness Writer”).

The best accomplishment with my fitness career isn’t even in the fitness world. I have been able to use my spotlight in the industry to increase awareness of my other career in domestic violence and child abuse. I will share more about this part of my life in future blogs.

That is a little bit of my background. What I most look forward to is the progress you make and I hope that now that I am contributing to Labrada, I get to be a witness to that success. It is inspiring to watch great people go through the journey to whatever their fitness destiny will be and just like you look for those role models to look up to and to inspire you to keep going on those rough days, I enjoy seeing these journeys and stories unfold to inspire me on those days I can only get ten reps when the set calls for twelve or those occasions when I am running four miles per hour when I know I can do five. That interaction and sharing of success is why I feel the bodybuilding and fitness industry is the best field to work in. It is great to be able to continue that work with Labrada and I hope that my contributions can play in a role in the success I am sure to see from all of you in the future.
