There’s no question that you absolutely must be including enough protein as part of your overall meal plan as protein is the one nutrient that is most important when on a fat loss diet. This is due to the fact that protein actually requires the body to burn off energy through the process of digesting it when consumed and you simply won’t get that effect when eating carbs or fats.
So by upping the protein intake of your diet, you’ll burn off more total calories throughout the day, thus see greater overall results.
Improved Muscle Retention
Second, the next reason why protein is an absolute must with your diet is because it’s going to really help to improve muscle retention as well. Since protein supplies the amino acids which are the critical building blocks for muscle tissue, when you’re getting enough the body will be able to maintain all the current muscle it has.
If you aren’t taking in enough protein and are on a fat loss diet, the body might start burning up incoming protein for fuel, meaning less will be left over to support that lean muscle mass.
The more muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism will be so you can clearly see why this is of importance to someone wanting to lose body fat.
Lower Levels Of Hunger
Finally, the last reason protein is a must for fat loss is because it will help to decrease the levels of hunger you experience. Simply by eating protein more often you will help to reduce your food cravings and maintain steadier blood sugar levels.
If you often fall off your diet due to hunger or cravings for simple carbs, protein will be a simple solution to this problem.
So there you have all the main reasons why protein is a must for fat loss. As you can see, it’s not one nutrient that you want to leave out on your fat loss diet plan.
