Juicing: Carrot & Ginger Super Shake

Keeping with the Summer season, I’ve been experimenting a bit with our juicer – with great results!

Today’s recipe uses simple ingredients that not only taste refreshing and delicious, but also protects your body with a heavy-hitting dose of nutrients.

With juicing, there is a bit of pulp left over, so be sure to use this in marinades for fish and chicken, since there are flavor compounds found in these materials, not to mention the vitamins and other healthful substances – giving you more for your dollar.

Carrots: Contain antioxidants and anti-cancer properties

Ginger: Helps aid digestion and is a natural anti-bacterial agent

Celery: High in phyto nutrients (compounds that help fight inflammation) and Vitamin C

Cucumber: For its anti-cancer benefits and serves as an internal moisturizer

Parsley: A natural chemo-protective food that contains high doses of natural oils (myristicin) that help neutralize carcinogens like cigarette smoke

Apple: The polyphenols and flavonoids found in apples helps slow carbohydrate digestion and helps regulate blood sugar regulation.
