Super Bowl Game Bodybuilding Friendly Recipe – Super fruit salad

This Super Bowl Game Bodybuilding Friendly Recipe is very easy to do, quick to make and packs a huge nutritional punch by including super fruits.  The pomegranate helps protect from a host of diseases including certain cancers and helps minimize your risk of heart disease.  To pick a ripe pomegranate, the fruit should be heavy for it’s size.  (If the pomegrante is the size of a baseball, the weight should be like that of a softball)  This insures you purchase a sweet fruit.

Preparing Pomegranate:

1.  Cut off the crown, then cut the pomegranate into sections.
2.  Place the sections in a bowl of water, then roll out the arils (juice sacs) with your fingers.  Discard everything else.
3.  Strain out the water, then eat the arils whole, seeds and all.

The blueberries and blackberries act as nutritional insurance for your body by providing a hearty dose of antioxidants.  In a recent study at Tufts University, researchers analyzed 60 fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant capacity – with blueberries taking the top spot, ranking highest in their ability to ward off free radicals.

For a cooling and refreshing taste, add a tablespoon or two of freshly chopped mint.

Super Fruit Salad

Yield:  4 Servings


2 ea. Pomegranates, peeled and arils removed
1 pint Blackberries, rinsed
1 pint Blueberries, rinsed
2 ea.  Oranges, peeled and cut into small segments

Method of Preparation:

1.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and toss together.  Serve chilled.
