My Dessert

8th gradeFrom the time I very first started gaining knowledge about building a lean muscular physique it seemed like protein was key. I’ve come to find out that is 100% true. I also learned very early on that to make it easy on yourself you could supplement your diet with protein powder. When I first decided to give this a try, 15 years ago, I went to a local nutrition store in the small town I lived. I purchased a small tub of chocolate protein powder. I mixed it as per the label directions. It was terrible, I remember choking it down with disgust. I never did make it through that tub of protein. At that point I decided to stick with my canned tuna and egg beaters.

Being from Ohio and now infatuated with fitness, that same year I decided to go to the Arnold Classic. They had an expo hall that was filled with supplement vendors. It was amazing to me. During my visit to the expo is when I first saw Labrada Nutrition. They had a huge table with protein bar samples. I tried a few samples and was amazed at the taste. I still remember the one I fell in love with was a Texas Pecan flavor bar. They were also selling packets of protein powder. I thought if the bars were this amazing, the protein powder couldn’t be nearly as bad as what I had previously tried.

That night I went home and made my first blender shake. It was really simple; water, a few ice cubes and 1 pack of Lean Body chocolate flavor. This was a life changing experience! It was a milkshake. 15 years later I still use the protein powder 3 x a day. It is my daily dessert that keeps my sweet tooth at bay, and helps me maintain a lean muscular physique. I look forward to every meal of the day that is a shake. It never gets old.

Over the years I have made a lot of concoctions. This is how I use it today.

Mid Morning Snack: ½ cup oatmeal, 2 Tbspn natural peanut butter with 2 serving Iso Lean Pro (I mix the oats in a bowl with enough water to moisten. I then put in the almond butter and protein. This taste like a no bake cookie)

Pre Workout – 1 serving cream of rice sweetened with vanilla stevia and have large cup of coffee with 2 servings Iso Lean Pro Chocolate mixed in the coffee (this is amazing, taste like a cappuccino plus gives me a nice boost pre-workout)

Before Bed – 2 Tbspn Almond Butter and 1 scoop vanilla Pro V 60 and 1 scoop chocolate Pro V 60 (I Mix this in a bullet blender with lots of ice. It becomes an ice cream texture that curbs my nightly sweet tooth. I also sometimes add a few drops of coconut extract and this taste similar to an almond joy)

This is how I currently use my protein powder. I’ve got hundreds of variations I’ve used over the years. Overtime I will be glad to share my others like cinnamon roll oatmeal or banana nut oatmeal. I encourage you to utilize protein powders not only to help build and maintain a lean muscular physique, but also to compliment your nutrition plan with some amazingly tasty treats.
