The Million Dollar Question—How to Lose Fat

by John Rowley

Losing fat is simple once you know what you’re doing. Body fat is stored fuel. Just like gas in your car. When you want the car to move, you push on the accelerator, which pushes gas to the engine for fuel. The bigger the engine the more fuel that is used for energy. A bit simplified I know but it makes my point.

Your body is similar. When you exercise your body uses available fuel. The more muscle you have the more fuel it uses. Unlike a car, your gas tank is sequential. First it looks for fuel in your blood stream, which is where it would find glucose or blood sugar. If your tank is “full” with glucose it doesn’t have to look any further. A full tank equals no fat loss. The only way to lose fat is by running your tank of glucose low so your body has to go find more fuel in the form of fat.

The key to fat loss is to eliminate “cautious” carbohydrates and eat your veggies which release less glucose into your blood, protein and a little fat. There is no way to burn fat while you have glucose running around, your body prefers glucose to body-fat. If you want to lose fat you have to lower your carbohydrates. Simply put: Fat control = Carbohydrate control.
